Companion Pet Rescue #dontshopadopt by Dorian Patrick

I am refreshed and my heart is full. It has been far too long since Beth and I have received our quota of puppy snuggles (ok so there were some adults mixed in too). With us being ridiculously busy through the summer, we have neglected our Companion Pet Rescue family. But we're back and this is the fruit of our Sunday afternoon. I don't know if it's because we've been absent for a while or if we as a rescue have had a massive influx of adorableness, but this round of pups just melted me.  Maybe it's because of this high of cuteness but I'd like to offer anyone with the goodness to make one of these (or any CPR) pup a member of your tribe a complimentary family photo session. Yes the dog does need to be there too...

Calzone could stand some beefing up. Especially if he is ever to live up to his name ;)

Someone put his sassy pants on for this one...

This guy could not get enough of the leaves...

That face though!!!!

I'll be perfectly honest with you, Fletcher almost came home with us. If only we didn't have a full house already. He is such a chill pup. Not to mention a righteous snuggler.

And last but not least, this is our foster Yazoo. He is such a great pup. With a few caveats. He is not a fan of male dogs and he takes up way too much of my bed... He is a lap dog through and through. Every chance he gets he is my neck pillow on the couch or he's hanging out with me in the studio. Extra bonus points (aka I'll throw in some prints from your family session) to the family that takes this bundle of awesome. I'd love to keep him around but we need to make room for the next foster. #dontshopadopt

Kick-Fit is Coming for Ya: Kickboxing in Ridgefield, CT by Dorian Patrick

With the opening of her new kick-fit (a high energy calorie crushing infusion of cardio and kickboxing) kickboxing school in Ridgefield just around the corner, I had another outstanding opportunity to photograph the one and only Master Lyndsay Doyon. She brings so much life and energy to the set even if it was a snowy early Sunday morning.

A big thank you to my friend Peter Dylag for opening up his studio In New Britain for our shoot. And don't forget, classes at Lyndsay's Kick-Fit kickboxing school start April 1. Sign up now.

Here's a little behind the scenes action that Peter put together.

Film's not dead by Dorian Patrick

About a year ago, I picked up my first film camera in nearly a decade. A photographer friend of mine had this camera that was just collecting dust (metaphorically, this guy is a bit of a nut when it comes to his gear) so I just had to add it to my tool box. Ever since then, I've had the idea for this project kicking around in my head. I want to do a figure study of instruments. Not a musician myself, but sharing a name with a mode I've always been drawn to music and the instruments that make it. Here is the first installment of what I'm sure will be a rather involved project.

Full disclosure: these images were not shot with film. These are my digital Polaroids if you will. My development shots. Once I got things the way I wanted them, that's when the Mamiya loaded with Tri-X came out.

A big thank you to Bethel Music Center for being such gracious hosts and genuinely awesome people.

If you would like your instruments (perhaps you are a maker, collector, refurbisher) featured in this project, I'd love to talk with you. Shoot me an email to: dorian.mode.photography@gmail.com

Kick-Fit Training Center Ridgefield, CT by Dorian Patrick

I'd like you to meet Lyndsay Doyon.

Lyndsay (AKA Master Lyndsay) is an internationally ranked 4th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and also has 10 years of Kickboxing experience. Along with her 20+ years of Tae Kwon Do training she has also studied the art of Muay Thai (often referred to as Kickboxing). At the age of 3 she was in her first uniform and by the age of 10 she received her First Degree Black Belt. She has studied and trained under her father Master Steve Doyon at his world renown Martial Arts studio in Danbury, CT where she started assisting at the age of 15.

Lyndsay has traveled all over the world visiting the top martial arts schools in the country and also studied Kickboxing in Thailand, the birthplace of Muay Thai. With her background in the Martial Arts and their knowledge of the Fitness industry, Lyndsay and her father developed "Kick-Fit" (Kickboxing Fitness). And Lyndsay is now opening her own school in Ridgefield.

I had a blast working with Lyndsay but I'll tell you what, I would not want to piss her off...

Seriously... that's almost my head level.

Ringing in 2015 by Dorian Patrick

As wedding photographers, we play many different roles throughout the day. We are photojournalists, stylists, family wranglers, portrait photographers and still life photographers to name a few. But my personal favorite, as a self-proclaimed detail nut, is photographing the rings. "The unending circle of the ring is a symbol of eternity. The wedding ring is the outward expression of the inward bond which unites two loyal hearts in endless love." And each set of rings is as unique as the couple that exchanges them. So here to ring in 2015, I give to you my favorite ring shots of 2014.

So here's to a 2015 filled with awesome couples and lots of love!

Welcome to the blog... by Dorian Patrick

Welcome to the blog! I'm glad you're here. Like many of my visual artist friends, I am not what you would call long winded. I prefer to let my images speak for themselves. If you're here looking for sprawling diatribes on the state of the industry (I may get on my soapbox once in a while when something really fires me up) sadly you're in the wrong place. However! If you're in to pretty cool photos, dogs, music, interesting places, architecture, food or any combination of these things you are totally in the right place. My blog will be chock full of images for you to peruse and enjoy. And who doesn't love to peruse? So let's start this off right.

This is Viola. I'm sure Autumn (she's our other pup) will make an appearance on the blog at some point.

This weekend I had the privilege of helping out a great organization, Companion Pet Rescue and Transport. CPR has an adoption location here in Southbury, CT where my wife and I adopted our second dog, Viola, a couple months ago. They are a volunteer based organization that is always looking for people to help out. Sunday we photographed all the adoptable pups at the farm. If you are looking to adopt a dog this is a great place to look. If you are in the Southbury area and would like to help out by being a volunteer, AWESOME! But for now, bring on the cute. Here is just some of the overwhelming cuteness going on over there at CPR.
